Self-Awareness
Self-Awareness:
The ability to accurately perceive one’s own strengths and limitations, passions and interests,
preferences and motivations, thoughts and emotions, attitudes and reactions, values and beliefs,
and goals and aspirations--and how these influence behavior and impact others; to recognize how
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are developed; to maintain a well-grounded sense of self and
self-confidence; to understand how one is perceived and how one forms perceptions; to determine
one’s physical and emotional wellness; and to recognize external resources for assistance.
INDICATORS
1. Demonstrate a knowledge of one’s emotions, attitudes, and reactions--and the individual triggers
behind them.
2. Demonstrate a well-grounded sense of self, including knowledge of personal strengths, challenges,
talents, potential, passions, interests, preferences, motivations, and needs--and how these influence
behavior.
3. Demonstrate an awareness of how one’s behavior impacts others.
4. Demonstrate a knowledge of one’s values, goals, and dreams.
5. Demonstrate a knowledge of one’s own thoughts and beliefs.
6. Demonstrate a knowledge of how one perceives the world through personal filters.
7. Demonstrate a knowledge of input awareness and how this affects thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
